Author Salman Rushdie is in recovery after a stabbing caused serious injuries.
Author of "The Satanic Verses," Rushdie's work previously has led to death threats.
The stabbing Friday caused wounds to his neck and abdomen. An assailant attacked him as he was about to give a lecture at the Chautauqua Institution in western New York, USA Today reports.
