Battlefield-based Russell Cellular Inc. added five new stores to bring its count up to 617 in 37 states.
Spokesperson Sarah Rogers said Russell Cellular assumed the operations of Verizon Wireless corporate stores starting last month in Missouri, Oklahoma, Texas and Virginia. Similarly, Russell Cellular took on the leases and converted the stores of eight Verizon Wireless locations in August.
“The decision to open new locations is something we work closely with Verizon to determine," Russell Cellular President and CEO Jeff Russell said in a news release. "These five locations have been open for a while and have a successful track record.
"They are a perfect complement to our existing service area and we are excited about the expansion of distribution points and the opportunity to serve new customers."
Russell Cellular ranked No. 1 in Springfield Business Journal's 2020 Dynamic Dozen awards, with 2019 revenue of $599 million and three-year growth of 88%. The company reported more than 2,500 employees.
