The city of Nixa is conducting a project designed to ease traffic concerns.
Crews are slated to install a northeast Nixa roundabout by early October. A news release indicates the roadway project would be constructed at Tracker and Old Castle roads and would be similar in scope to the city's Wasson Circle roundabout, located near the $10 million CoxHealth "super clinic" that opened last year.
The contractor will demolish parts of the existing intersection, build a center island, pour new curbs and sidewalks, and lay new street surface around the traffic circle.
"The new roundabout will help manage efficient flow of traffic through the intersection with the capability of accommodating the increased traffic anticipated to result from further residential development in the area," city officials said in the release.
The intersection will be closed for up to two weeks at the end of September.
The project is related to the city's strategic plan to improve intersections for safety, traffic flow and traffic congestion reasons, according to the release.
