Report: Greene, Christian among top Missouri counties for home values

Greene and Christian counties are among the top areas in Missouri for home values, according to a report from financial data tracking firm SmartAsset.

At No. 9 statewide, Greene County had a 46.1% increase in home values 2016-21, according to the report. The local county's home growth rate index was 43.8 out of a possible 100.

The report pointed to a property tax rate of 0.9% for Greene County, as well as a school rating of 7, compared with a 5.6 average in Missouri.

Locally, Christian County ranked at No. 8, with a 46% growth rate, according to the report. The county’s home growth rate index was 44.3, with a property tax rate of 0.8% and school rating of 10.

No. 1 in Missouri for home value growth is the Kansas City area’s Jackson County, at 60.7%.

No. 1 nationwide is Canyon County, Idaho, which saw its home values grow by nearly 120% during the five-year period. No Missouri county ranked on the Top 10 nationally.
