Two Springfield-based companies are among the top retailers in the United States, according to a newly released report by Newsweek.
Bass Pro Shops and O'Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) are named on the Newsweek list of America's Best Retailers 2023. Some 9,000 U.S. customers who have shopped at the retailers on the Newsweek list in the past three years were surveyed for the report based on the likelihood of recommendation and five evaluation criteria: products, customer service, atmosphere, accessibility and shop layout.
Both Bass Pro and O'Reilly Automotive were No. 1 in their categories of camping and outdoor gear and auto supplies, respectively. Bass Pro brand Cabela's is No. 2 in the camping and outdoor gear category.
Retailers also were given a total score out of 100, with Bass Pro receiving 90.47 and O'Reilly Automotive getting 85.73.
"These businesses understand the needs and preferences of their customers and go above and beyond to meet or exceed their expectations," said Nancy Cooper, global editor-in-chief for Newsweek, in the report. "They also have loyal and satisfied customers who trust and recommend them to others."
While a disruption in international trade has the capacity to hurt local farmers and ranchers, beef producers are having a good go of things at the moment.
