Hollywood buyers again are turning to Relics Antique Mall in Springfield for film props.
Relics owner Beverly Robb said buyers for upcoming Christopher Nolan film "Oppenheimer" were in the 2015 W. Battlefield Road store earlier this month. They spent around $10,000 on items such as antique oak filing cabinets, glass candle holders and a vintage Craftsman band saw, she said.
Robb said a previous purchase from Hollywood buyers – last year for the film "Killers of the Flower Moon" – led, in part, to the latest store visit. But she said it's also a nod to the quality of the antique mall, which has pieces dating back to the 1700s.
"I do think that it is because we are so large," Robb said. "We have hundreds and hundreds of pieces of furniture here.
"We have over 500 dealers, and they search constantly for unique items."
"Oppenheimer," scheduled for release in 2023, stars actors Cillian Murphy, Matt Damon and Robert Downey Jr. in a story about American scientist J. Robert Oppenheimer and his role in developing the atom bomb, according to the movie's profile at IMDB.com.
Last summer, buyers from director Martin Scorsese's team purchased around 60 items for "Killers of the Flower Moon,” according to past reporting.
417 Cocktails LLC moved; 7 Brew Coffee added its first shop in Lebanon; and Branson outlet store for Baltimore, Maryland-based sports apparel retailer Under Armour relocated.
