The hotly anticipated Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers restaurant is scheduled to open on Election Day.
The fast-food eatery is targeting a Nov. 3 launch date, said Russell Ford, a marketing executive overseeing the Raising Cane's account via Champion Management LLC. The Jan. 2 article, "Raising Cane’s to make Springfield debut," is Springfield Business Journal's most-viewed story of the year to date, according to analytics data.
Raising Cane's spokesperson Anna Ball said the 321 W. Sunshine St. restaurant would have around 70 employees. The store, at the intersection of Sunshine and Campbell Avenue adjacent from Bass Pro Shops, now has been added to Raising Cane's website with its "birthday" set as Nov. 3.
The Springfield restaurant is Raising Cane's 19th in Missouri and 530th nationwide, Ford added.
Building permits on file with the city name Texas-based Embree Construction Group Inc. and Louisiana-based CSRS Inc. as contractors working on the project. One Springfield permit lists a declared valuation of $1.8 million. Groundwork at the site began this summer, according to past reporting.
Ball said the free-standing restaurant spans 2,915 square feet. It's located next to a commercial center developed by property owner Jason Pullman.
Baton Rouge, Louisiana-based Raising Cane's features a menu of chicken fingers, fries and coleslaw.
