Three top honors were announced at Springfield Business Journal's inaugural Nonprofit Excellence Awards, which recognized a dozen organizations and individuals.
The awards ceremony was held last night at Oasis Hotel & Convention Center. SBJ took the torch for the event last held in 2020, continuing the awards that were started by Dan Prater, Drury University's founding leader of the Center for Nonprofit Leadership who now serves as a senior manager at Forvis Mazars LLP.
Winners last night were unveiled in the categories of small, medium and large nonprofits, based on their operating budgets.
In the large category, Ozarks Food Harvest Inc. took home top honors. The finalists were Community Partnership of the Ozarks Inc. and Good Samaritan Boys Ranch.
The Kitchen Inc. won top honors in the medium category, and the finalists were Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks Inc. and CASA of Southwest Missouri.
Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth received the top honors nod in the small organization category. The finalists were GYN Cancers Alliance and On Angels' Wings.
Individual awards were presented to the following:
• CEO/Executive Director of the Year Brandy Harris, Boys & Girls Clubs of Springfield Inc.
• Board Member of the Year Jordan Gibson, Habitat for Humanity of Springfield, Missouri Inc. and Harmony House
• Employee of the Year Kassie Fox, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals at CoxHealth
Askinosie Chocolate founder Shawn Askinosie delivered a keynote address at the event, which was emceed by Springfield-Greene County Health Department Director Katie Towns.
Additionally, Revel Advertising presented its Revel with a Cause award to Honor Flight of the Ozarks.

Dame Chiropractic LLC emerged as the new name of Harshman Chiropractic Clinic LLC with the purchase of the business; Leo Kim added a second venture, Keikeu LLC, to 14 Mill Market; and Mercy Springfield Communities opened its second primary care clinic in Ozark.
