Penmac hires former Marshfield superintendent

Posted online

Springfield-based Penmac Staffing Services Inc. hired the former superintendent of the Marshfield R-I School District.

David Steward started July 26 as director of professional development for the company's Penmac Education Staffing division, according to a news release. He retired from the Marshfield district at the end of the 2020-21 school year after four years as superintendent. He was named new superintendent of the year in 2020 by the Missouri Association of School Administrators.

“David’s leadership experience will be a necessary ingredient for the future success of the division, and his knowledge of education strengthens our position as we continue to expand our services into Missouri and the surrounding states," Penmac CEO Tim Massey said in the release.

Steward succeeds Tanya Vest, who left to pursue another employment opportunity after working with Penmac since 2016, said spokesperson Sarah Curl. The Education Staffing division was created in 2015, according to its website.

In his new position, Steward works with Penmac Education Staffing's 19 partner school districts and their substitutes to provide training, instruction and support. He'll also reach out to other districts for future partnership opportunities.

“I look forward to continuing to serve school districts and students by training and developing Penmac's substitute teachers to provide quality instruction on days they are in the classroom," Steward said in the release.
