The Price Cutter Charity Championship this year raised $1.007 million for Ozarks charities.
The figure is the largest amount to date for the tournament held annually at Highland Springs Country Club, according to a news release. The tournament was in July, and the Celebration of Sharing ceremony for the 52 children's charities was hosted yesterday.
"We are so happy for our charities, and we cannot thank local businesses and individuals enough for throwing their support to them," said Jerald Andrews, the tournament's executive director, in the release. “In 2014, we set a goal to gift $1 million, which had never been done in one year, and the community rallied around that effort. Every year since has been a success, and this year is even more incredible, considering the challenges of the pandemic.”
Since its inception in 1990, the tournament founded by late hotelier John Q. Hammons has donated $18.4 million to local charities.
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Ozarks, Champion Athletes of the Ozarks and the Missouri Fellowship of Christian Athletes were among the nonprofit recipients this year, according to the release.
The tournament received support from more than 400 businesses and individuals, officials said.
