The Professional Bowlers Association is bringing tournament play back to the Queen City.
The Pete Weber Missouri Classic will be part of the 2025 PBA Tour, the league announced in a news release this morning. The tournament is held at Enterprise Park Lanes in Springfield.
PBA is partnering with Fox Sports to feature more than 60 hours of televised bowling and eight broadcasts on Fox Sports 1. The Pete Weber Missouri Classic in Springfield is set to take place on Feb. 16 and be broadcast on FS1.
“The big thing about it being televised is that it put Springfield bowling on the map,” Enterprise Park Lanes co-owner Steve Wiemer said in a March Springfield Business Journal article, after the local tournament was held this year.
Around 300 people watched the Springfield tournament live on location this year. According to 11Frame.com, a digital bowling news site, approximately 368,000 people tuned in to watch on television, giving it the highest viewership for a PBA event on FS1 since 2021, according to past reporting.
More than 27 million viewers watched the PBA on Fox Sports in 2024, according to the release.
"We're excited to continue our partnership with the PBA and showcase the sport to an even wider audience across Fox and FS1," said Bill Wanger, executive vice president of programming at Fox Sports, in the release. "This season's structure offers a great balance of individual and team competition and will foster deeper engagement among fans, while bringing in new audiences."
The new season starts in January, with playoffs and championship bouts scheduled to be held in May.
April 7 was the official opening day for Mexican-Italian fusion restaurant Show Me Chuy after a soft launch that started March 31; marketing agency AdZen debuted; and the Almighty Sando Shop opened a brick-and-mortar space.
