Passengers injured in boat explosion at Table Rock Lake marina

Posted online

A boat explosion injured three people at a Table Rock Lake marina over the weekend.

The Central Crossing Fire Protection District in Shell Knob received an early afternoon call on July 13 and responded to Kings River Marina, which provides boat and slip rentals on Table Rock Lake. According to the marina’s website, it’s about 40 miles west of Branson.

A Facebook post from the Central Crossing Fire Protection indicates after the boat had been fueled, the operator had difficulty starting it. An explosion occurred shortly thereafter, resulting in a fire that destroyed the boat and a fuel dispenser. A marina dock also sustained damage. The cause of the explosion was not disclosed in the post.

Four passenger were on board the boat at the time of the explosion. One was transported by helicopter and two were taken via ambulance to Springfield hospitals. A fourth passenger refused care at the scene, according to the Facebook post. KY3 reports the names of the four passengers are Kenneth and Virginia Zielinski and Norman and Felicia Tudor.

“We wish to extend our thanks and a ‘job well done’ to the awesome marina staff and members of the public for their assistance today,” the fire department’s post reads. “Many fire extinguishers were used, fuel shut-offs and safeties were activated, patients were removed from harm’s way and care was provided until EMS arrived.”
