Ozarks Elder Law expands Nixa office with move

A Springfield-based law firm this month expanded its footprint in Nixa by moving to a larger office space. 

Ozarks Elder Law moved June 1 to 912 W. Mount Vernon St., Ste. 912, in Nixa, after three years at 811 N. Main St., said owner and managing attorney Lori Rook. It’s the second move for the firm in Nixa, where it opened an office five years ago. The new office occupies 2,400 square feet in Stonecrest Plaza in space formerly occupied by MacPherson Law LLC, as owner Ashleigh MacPherson announced last month via Facebook she’s downsizing her practice.  

“We purchased all of her equipment and all of her furniture,” Rook said regarding MacPherson’s law practice, noting the two are longtime friends. “It was kind of a perfect setup. It was a great opportunity and gave us a bigger space and probably a little better location and signage than what we had before.” 

Rook said the new Nixa office is roughly double the size of its former site. She declined to disclose relocation costs or the rate of her three-year lease with landlord Victor Paulik.  

Aside from MacPherson Law’s equipment and furniture, Rook said she hired the firm’s longtime lead paralegal Tracy Burks to serve in the same role at Ozarks Elder Law. Doing so allows the office to be open Monday through Friday, Rook said, noting the Nixa office previously operated by appointment only. 

“We’re reworking our rotation to the office to have an attorney there three days a week,” she said. 

It’s the second relocation for an Ozarks Elder Law office in a month, as its Bolivar location changed in May.  

Rook said the Bolivar office was previously in temporary space at 910 E. San Martin St. since opening roughly 18 months ago. It moved May 1 to 640 E. Buffalo St., she said, adding the 1,200-square-foot office is open to clients by appointment only. She declined to disclose relocation and renovation costs or the one-year lease rate with landlord DCBC LLC. 

It’s been a busy year for Ozarks Elder Law. In February, the firm added Republic as its ninth office, opening at 255 W. U.S. Highway 60, Ste. 255, in Plaza Southwest Retail Center, and Rook said the firm is looking to hire a seventh attorney. 

Rook said the company employs 23, including six attorneys, and a 10th office is under consideration. Ozarks Elder Law also operates in Springfield, Branson, Joplin, Lebanon, Marshfield and Ozark. 

“We have another community we’re very interested in, but it’s not anything that we’re actively pursuing,” she said. 

The primary clientele for its legal services, which include estate and asset planning protection, is older adults and people who are disabled.
