The city of Ozark has made a new leadership appointment.
The Ozark Board of Aldermen on Monday gave its unanimous stamp of approval to City Administrator Eric Johnson's recommendation of naming Cameron Smith assistant city administrator, according to a news release.
Smith, the city’s community development director for the past seven years, starts in his new role on Oct. 26.
“Cameron is a time-tested, proven professional with extensive public and private experience," Johnson said in the release. "Every day local government presents new opportunities and challenges. His ability to navigate complex situations and obstacles will be very valuable as he adjusts to his new role in Ozark."
As community development director, Smith is credited in the release with updating the city's comprehensive plan, adopting a dark sky ordinance, initiating the city's Americans with Disabilities Act transition plan, launching a corridor study and refining the municipality's code compliance system.
“It is an honor to be considered and appointed to this new role. I am greatly appreciative of the support from the Board of Aldermen, city administrator, city departments and my fellow team members," Smith said in the release. "It is an opportunity that I look forward to and am committed to giving my best service to the city of Ozark.”
