Springfield-based O’Reilly Automotive Inc. (Nasdaq: ORLY) rose 15 spots on the annual Fortune 500 list ranking the largest U.S. companies.

The auto parts retailer placed at No. 314 – its best ranking to date – based on 2019 revenue of $10.15 billion. O’Reilly Automotive is the fourth-highest ranked Missouri company on the list, following Centene Corp. (NYSE: CNC), No. 42; Emerson Electric Co. (NYSE: EMR), No. 176; and Reinsurance Group of America Inc. (NYSE: RGA), No. 225.

Last year marked the first time in company history that O'Reilly Automotive exceeded $10 billion in sales.

One other southwest Missouri company, Carthage-based manufacturer Leggett & Platt Inc. (NYSE: LEG), was ranked by Fortune but did not make the coveted top 500. With $4.8 billion in 2019 revenue, Leggett & Platt placed No. 569, an increase of 30 spots from the 2019 Fortune list.

On the Fortune 500, Walmart Inc. (NYSE: WMT) retained the top spot, with 2019 revenue of $524 billion; followed by Amazon.com Inc. (Nasdaq: AMZN), at $280.5 billion; and Exxon Mobile Corp., (NYSE: XOM), at $265 billion.
