Talk of the Town Barbershop LLC
A first-time business owner launched Talk of the Town Barbershop LLC on Sept. 1 at 1303 S. Glenstone Ave. Owner James Seahorn leads a staff of six stylists at the shop, near the intersection of Glenstone Avenue and East Meadowmere Street. He signed a three-year lease for an undisclosed rate with JU Rentals LLC. Startup costs were roughly $25,000, Seahorn said. He said prices for standard haircuts start at $25 for adults, $20 for students and $15 for children. Shaves and beard trims also are offered. Seahorn said a portion of the 1,994-square-foot shop is leased for undisclosed rates with esthetician Talya Medley, owner of Organically Bee Love, and Christian Gonzalez, who owns The Shoe Medic LLC, a shoe care business. Seahorn said he moved back to Springfield in April to be near family after working in the restaurant industry in Austin, Texas, and was looking for a career change.

Harrison St. In Town Center Plaza, the venture owned by husband and wife Jimmy and Leanne Gove fills a 1,500-square-foot space formerly occupied by the shuttered Beefcakes restaurant. Jimmy Gove declined to disclose startup costs or his three-year lease rate with Tillman Redevelopment LLC. Among the seven hamburger options on the menu is a farmhouse burger with shaved ham, white American cheese, smoked bacon and a sunny side up egg. Tacos, chicken sandwiches and shakes also are served at the 12-employee restaurant. Prices generally range $7-$12. H&M
The 12th Missouri store for international clothing retailer H&M opened Sept. 24 at Battlefield Mall. Lease terms were undisclosed between parent company H & M Hennes & Mauritz AB and mall owner Simon Property Group Inc. (NYSE: SPG). Battlefield Mall General Manager Michael Martin said the retailer, which is across from Old Navy, is in a roughly 20,000-square-foot space previously occupied by three tenants: On the Ball, Trinkets and Visionworks. The retailer sells clothing for men, women and teens, along with accessories and a kids’ collection for newborns to 14-year-olds. H&M temporarily shuttered around 900 of its 5,000 stores nationwide amid the coronavirus pandemic, according to the company’s nine-month investor report. Officials say around 165 stores were still closed as of the end of September. For 2021, a net decrease of around 250 stores is planned, according to the report. The Battlefield Mall shop is the second in the Ozarks for H&M, which opened in 2018 at Branson Landing.
