Retro Metro
Retro Metro changed ownership July 1 as husband and wife Brandon and Hana Moore purchased the south-side restaurant from Pat Duran. The financial terms of the deal were undisclosed. “My wife and I always wanted to own our own restaurant. This was the perfect vehicle for that,” said Brandon Moore, aka Chef Tiny. Moore said he and his wife, both chefs at Retro Metro, were approached by Duran to buy the eatery after they helped him launch it in December 2020. Retro Metro, at 2150 W. Republic Road, Ste. 104, in Magers Crossing, was designed as a throwback to the early days of Metropolitan Grill, which Duran purchased from Fred Coco in 2006. Duran continues to own Metropolitan Grill on East Battlefield Road. The Moores were original employees of Duran at Metropolitan Grill. Under new ownership, Retro Metro continues to cycle through classic Metro menu items, Moore said, and now offers lunch, a happy hour, Sunday brunch, a seasonal menu and a “fresh catch” lineup of seafood in partnership with Express Foods. Dinner entree prices range $18-$68.

Grafpros
Print shop Grafpros LLC, which started in Arizona four years ago, expanded May 1 to Mount Vernon. Owner and CEO Robert Honeycutt said he invested $1.2 million in the addition, which included a building purchase at 101 N. Hickory St. Honeycutt employs four in the 6,000-square-foot shop, which provides custom design and print services, including for promotions, apparel, stickers, business cards, banners, stationery, decals and embroidery. Honeycutt said the expansion was spurred in part because Miranda Belanger, his operations manager, was moving back to her hometown of Mount Vernon. In response, he decided to also move the business operations, noting he has friends in the area. Honeycutt said the company maintains a sales location in Goodyear, Arizona, but all print production is now handled in Mount Vernon.

Multipli Credit Union
The new headquarters and third full-service branch in Springfield for Multipli Credit Union opened May 2 at 1850 S. Blackman Road, Ste. 100. Alisa Lawler, vice president of marketing and business development, said the new building houses Multipli’s commercial and mortgage lending departments and back-office operations. The new branch also has four interactive teller machines, including two with 24-hour access. BP Builders LLC was general contractor for the 40,000-square-foot building, designed by H Design Group LLC. Multipli officials declined to disclose startup costs but noted supply chain issues delayed the project’s completion date, previously targeted for August 2021. The credit union, led by president and CEO Judy Hadsall, occupies 30,000 square feet and employs 33 in the building, Lawler said. The remaining 10,000 square feet are available for lease. Multipli maintains its 818 N. Benton Ave. branch and a third branch at 1017 E. Republic Road.
