Northern Tool and Equipment
Burnsville, Minnesota-based Northern Tool and Equipment opened its first Springfield store Sept. 26. At 549 W. El Camino Alto Drive, the 22,000-square-foot hardware store was built this year between Sam’s Club and Walmart Neighborhood Market in James River Commons. Constructed by BP Builders LLC and designed by H Design Group LLC, company officials declined to disclose construction costs for the 20-employee store managed by David Choate. It marks the retailer’s fourth Missouri store, with others in the Kansas City and St. Louis markets. Selling tools for automotive, farming, food service, trucking and other industries, the company operates more than 100 stores in 22 states, according to its website. Founded in 1981, Northern Tool is privately owned by Don Kotula.

Senior Living Guidance LLC
With a background in nursing home administration, Jacqueline Jadidian launched Senior Living Guidance LLC on Aug. 19. As the sole employee of the home-based business, Jadidian provides eldercare advising and referral services – for in-home care, finding a new home, adult day care and respite care, and estate plan preparation. Startup costs were not disclosed. Jadidian said she spent nearly a decade as a licensed nursing home administrator, most recently as executive director at Dove Estates Senior Living Community in Goddard, Kansas. She said her experience has touched all facets of long-term care: independent, assisted, memory and skilled nursing. Jadidian moved back to the Queen City in 2018 to assist her family with care for her grandmother, Dottie Gammon. After the family moved her grandmother to a memory care facility, Jadidian said that motivated her to step away from administration and go into business for herself.

Village Boutique LLC
Consignment shop Village Boutique LLC moved to its new Bolivar home Aug. 1 at 860 E. San Martin St. in the Vineyard Square shopping center. The five-employee store was formerly at 102 E. Jackson St. on the Bolivar square, but now occupies approximately 3,000 square feet for its line of women’s and children’s clothing and accessories. Owner Sheila Michaels declined to disclose relocation costs or terms of her lease with landlord Thane Kifer. She said items at Village Boutique are priced from $5 for some children’s clothing items up to $800 for a high-end designer purse, adding the average price point is around $14. Michaels started in retail in 1996 as owner of Munchkin Outfitters, selling children’s clothing and accessories. In 2001, she purchased Village Boutique, which primarily sold women’s clothing, and combined the two companies.
