Mile 6 Taproom
Springfield Brewing Co. launched its newest venture, Mile 6 Taproom, on Dec. 22 at 115 E. Jackson St. in Willard. SBC co-owner Christina Chanter said Mile 6 is named in recognition of its location along the Frisco Highline Trail. The 5,420-square-foot venture’s name is intended to double as a descriptor of its general address, much like One 2 Five Taproom, which SBC opened in August at 1846 S. State Highway 125 in Rogersville. Chanter declined to disclose startup costs for Mile 6 Taproom or its lease terms with building owner Ozark Greenways Inc. Chanter said General Manager Melissa Merrell leads the eight-person staff at the Willard taproom, which includes a dozen SBC beers on tap, kegged wine and spirits from its sister company, Ty Iechyd Da Distillery. The small-batch spirit selection includes bourbon, gin, rum and vodka. Aside from offering indoor entertainment such as cornhole, pool tables and board games, Mile 6 Taproom has space for two mobile eateries and an outdoor beer garden with fire pits.

King Food Saver
Rogersville-based Pyramid Foods transitioned a north-side Price Cutter store into a King Food Saver on Sept. 28. The 335 N. Nolting Ave. store at Chestnut Expressway and West Bypass closed temporarily on Sept. 23 to make way for the transition, said Rob Marsh, former chief operating officer for Pyramid Foods, who started Jan. 6 as executive director and CEO of the Missouri Sports Hall of Fame. The flag change represents Phase II of Pyramid Foods’ store conversion plan, said Marsh, pointing to the Price Cutter at 1831 W. Kearney St., which also converted in August to a King Food Saver. He declined to disclose expenses related to the store changes. King Food Saver sells grocery products at cost, with 10% added at checkout, according to its website. Produce, meat and seafood are among items sold. Marsh said the 53,000-square-foot King Food Saver at Nolting Avenue also has a Seattle’s Best Coffee stand owned and operated by Pyramid Foods. Store manager Savannah Jentzsch leads the 75-person grocery staff, he said.
