LeDoux’s Furniture and Whatnots
Jan. 4 was the grand opening for LeDoux’s Furniture and Whatnots, a family-owned and operated retail shop on Commercial Street. The door at LeDoux’s opened for a couple of days in November as a soft launch, said Adrian Fruge, who co-owns the 422 W. Commercial St. shop with his mother, Candace Fruge, and his sister, Olly Fruge. He said the variety store has a focus on vintage, reclaimed and upcycled furniture, as well as home decor. The shop fills 2,200 square feet in space formerly occupied by bicycle repair business Trail Labs LLC. Furniture for sale includes end tables, shelving, chairs and couches, he said, adding the shop also sells products such as essential oil diffusers, yoga equipment and art-focused supplies. Fruge declined to disclose startup costs or the one-year lease rate with landlord and building owner Fran Young. Fruge said the venture’s moniker is an homage to his maternal grandmother’s maiden name, adding he and his sister will primarily handle the day-to-day operations at LeDoux’s.

Soapbox Studios
A pair of entrepreneurs teamed up for Soapbox Studios LLC, a new Springfield podcast studio. Caleb Scott said a Jan. 1 grand opening was held following its soft launch last summer in which space became available for people seeking studio rental options for podcast production, content creation, group study and other purposes. Soapbox Studios is a partnership between Scott, former Ozarks Lunkers general manager who also is involved in real estate, and Michael Wilson, owner of Springfield Bookkeeping LLC. Scott said the company has four multiuse stations in roughly 300 square feet the owners lease at 3510 S. Culpepper Circle for undisclosed terms. He also declined to disclose startup costs. Through an online booking platform, Soapbox Studios offers flexible renting options ranging $50 for one hour up to $400 for all-day podcast studio rentals. Content creation packages range $500-$1,500. The Soapbox Studios team additionally can help customers record, produce and brand their content.
