Flooring Systems Inc.
Flooring Systems Inc. traded addresses on Kearney Street when it moved July 6 to a $1 million newly constructed storefront at 3038
W. Kearney St. The flooring contracting company fills nearly 15,000 square feet – around 20% larger than the 3525 E. Kearney St. space the company leased for six years. Flooring Systems Vice President Greg Young said the store employs 48, and there are plans to soon add to the staff. The St. Louis-based company, which sells carpet, wood and ceramic flooring, also operates a store in Farmington that specializes in residential services. The Springfield division works strictly in commercial space, Young said. Dock Brothers Construction Co. served as general contractor and BRP Architects was architect for the building, which has a showroom, administrative offices and warehousing space.

Mercy Therapy Services-Magers Crossing
Mercy Springfield Communities on July 31 opened a physical therapy center in the Magers Crossing development in southwest Springfield. Dubbed Mercy Therapy Services-Magers Crossing, the 2100 W. Republic Road outpatient clinic is the first physical therapy center in a retail setting for the health care system, said spokesperson Sonya Kullmann. It’s also the first stand-alone physical therapy space for Mercy locally, she said. Manager Mark Huslig leads the five-person staff, handling orthopedic rehabilitation. With an investment of $51,000, Kullmann said the clinic is the first tenant for the 1,800 square feet of retail space completed in 2019. All appointments require a physician referral, according to Mercy officials. Also in Magers Crossing, Mercy operates a co-branded urgent care clinic in partnership with Atlanta-based GoHealth Urgent Care.

Downtown Nutrition Club LLC
Downtown Nutrition Club LLC filled a two-year-old vacancy downtown when it opened June 22. The shop sells shakes and teas out of 1,900 square feet at 323
E. Walnut St., formerly occupied by clothing retailer Envy Boutique. Morgan Helms, who co-owns the venture with husband Colby and friend Bridgette Cummings, runs the three-employee store. The owners signed a three-year lease with Springfield Lofts for an undisclosed rate. Morgan Helms said startup costs were roughly $20,000. Downtown Nutrition Club is modeled off of The Healthy Edge Nutrition Club, 3604 S. Campbell Ave., which Cummings owns. With around 15 nutrition shakes and 20 energy teas, Morgan Helms said her shop has a smaller drink menu than The Healthy Edge. Shakes generally run $7 for such flavors as chunky monkey and butter pecan. Teas cost around $5 in flavors including cherry limeade and strawberry lemonade.
