With customized charcuterie and catering as its specialty, Edible Art opened Oct. 10 at 3167 W. Republic Road. Friends for nearly 20 years, Rhiannon Deskins and Angela Counts launched their first business venture, which is registered with the Missouri secretary of state’s office as Edible Art Enterprises LLC. Deskins said they signed a two-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Cowherd Construction LLC. The owners are the lone employees at the 1,600-square-foot shop, Deskins said, declining to disclose startup costs. Edible Art sells charcuterie boards ranging from individual lunch boxes to arrangements that feed 50 people. The shop also sells gifts such as plants and chocolate-dipped strawberries. All charcuterie boxes and boards have a variety of cheese, salami, fruit, vegetables, jam, mustard, crackers and vegetable dip. Prices begin at $12.50 for a single serving, while larger boards range $175-$650. Charcuterie board prep classes also are offered at the shop, she said.

Legacy Hair Studio
After accruing nearly a decade of experience working in cosmetology, Angel Woods became a first-time business owner with the Oct. 28 opening of Legacy Hair Studio LLC. Woods launched her studio in shared space with Lush Skin & Beauty Center LLC at 1909 E. Bennett St., Ste. 103. She and Lush Skin owner Jessica Wilson operate their businesses separately, Woods said, noting the two have been best friends for 15 years. Woods said she signed a one-year lease for $400 per month with building owner Bennett Property Investments LLC, adding her startup costs were $3,000. A 2013 graduate of the Academy of Hair Design, Woods said past experience includes Hannah’s Beauty Salon and Limelight Salon. At Legacy Hair Salon, which Woods said is named after her 2-year-old daughter, services include haircuts, blowouts, coloring and highlights. Haircut prices begin at $20 for children, $25 for men and $45 for women.

Yolo Rolled Ice Cream
Yolo Rolled Ice Cream LLC, the first brick-and-mortar shop for a pair of young entrepreneurs, opened Jan. 1 in Branson. Laiken Avery said she and fiance Cole Crutcher got engaged Dec. 3 on her 20th birthday, and they co-own the venture at 2005 W. 76 Country Blvd., Ste. 207. She said the couple signed a three-year lease for an undisclosed rate with Commercial One Brokers LLC for the 1,500-square-foot shop in the Vista Plaza shopping center. Startup costs for the six-employee shop were $80,000, Avery said, adding most of their funding came from savings. Prior businesses co-owned by Avery and Crutcher, who is currently a senior at College of the Ozarks, were Massthetics LLC, an online clothing company, and power washing operation Hydroclean Exteriors LLC. Aside from rolled ice cream, the shop sells gelato, milkshakes and smoothies. Prices range $6.50-$12.
