Corwin Automotive of Springfield
Corwin Automotive Group relocated its operations on Oct. 11 from two Sunshine Street locations to one dealership on about 15 acres at 3326 E. Kearney St. The $15 million project features a 75,000-square-foot building near U.S. Highway 65, said Jeff McConville, operating partner for Corwin Automotive of Springfield. Fargo, North Dakota-based Olaf Anderson Construction was the project’s general contractor and architect. The new site houses the company’s Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep, Ram and Fiat fleets, employing 110. McConville said about 45,000 square feet of the facility is dedicated to a service and parts department, adding the new location gives the group more room and consolidates its service work. The dealership entered the Springfield market in 2012 through the purchase of Central Dodge. It also owns Corwin Ford of Springfield at 3241 S. Glenstone Ave., the longtime home of Friendly Ford, which it bought in 2017.

Nixa Dog Park
The city of Nixa opened its first park for dogs on Nov. 1 at 1137 S. Norton Road. The Nixa Dog Park sits on 4 acres of a 12-acre property owned by the city, said Matt Crouse, the city’s director of parks and recreation. He said the park construction was $150,000, funded through budgeted city revenues. The park has designated areas for large dogs, 35 pounds and over, and small dogs. It also has benches, picnic tables and a pavilion. Crouse said a $20 park pass is required for up to two dogs within the same household. The pass, which allows unlimited visits, is renewable annually. Registration is available at the Nixa Parks Department, 701 N. Taylor Way. Proof of vaccinations for rabies, bordetella, parvo and distemper is required for dog park passes. Crouse said launching a dog park was identified in the city’s 2015-20 strategic plan.

Rise Coffee Co.
Less than a year after debuting as a drive-thru coffee shop, Rise Coffee Co. transitioned Nov. 13 to a brick-and-mortar shop at 1309 Spur Drive, Ste. 500, in Marshfield. Kaden Freeman, who co-owns the venture with friends Adreon Horn and Lucas Reynolds, said the three remain the lone employees at the shop, which has a drink menu including hot and iced lattes, frappes and espressos. With the move, Freeman said Rise Coffee Co. added food, which includes a breakfast burrito, bagels and sandwiches, such as The Shiner, which has buffalo chicken and pepper jack cheese on sourdough bread. Prices range $1.50-$8. Freeman said expanding the menu was a motivator to move from its coffee truck that launched in January 2020 at Young’s Shopping Center, 900 W. Washington St. He declined to disclose relocation costs or lease terms. The owners plan to sell the truck and focus full time on the new shop, Freeman said.
