He said it’s the family’s first foray into the restaurant industry, noting he’s owned construction company The Chainey Group LLC since 2008. The dessert shop is managed by one of their sons, Lucas Chainey. Jody Chainey said startup costs were $30,000, declining to disclose lease terms with building owner Kelsey Baker. The shop fills 2,800 square feet formerly occupied by A Wench in the Gear LLC, which closed last year. Beyond Bliss has cakes and cookies, and frozen yogurt will soon be added. Comic Force
Four years after Comic Force LLC debuted in Branson, a second location was added Dec. 17 in Springfield. The store at 2303 S. Campbell Ave. in the Camelot Shopping Center sells new and used comic books, games, toys and collectibles. Gale Blaha, who co-owns both stores with husband Josh, said they received a lot of requests to launch a second location in the Queen City. She declined to disclose startup costs or lease terms for the 3,200-square-foot store. The couple opened their first shop in 2017 at the Shoppes at Branson Meadows, 4250 Gretna Road. She said the game selection for their business venture, which she dubs “a one-stop nerd shop,” includes Dungeons & Dragons, Pokemon, Yu-Gi-Oh! and Magic: The Gathering. Comic Force also sells action figures, dice and other gaming accessories.

The Social
The Social LLC, an activity center that also sells healthy shakes and teas, opened Dec. 2 in Marshfield. Husband and wife Levi and Samantha Petary co-own the business at 1100 Spur Drive, Ste. 20, in Centerview Plaza. It fills 1,400 square feet formerly occupied by Prickly Cactus Coffee, which moved last year. Samantha Petary said they signed a one-year lease with landlord Robert Headley for $985 per month, and startup costs were $15,000. The Social rents out space for arts and craft classes including canvas painting and macrame braiding. The space also is available for parties, meetings and boutique pop-up events. Formerly working at The Daily Fix Nutrition in Lebanon, Petary said she’s incorporated healthy drinks into their Marshfield business concept. The shop sells meal replacement shakes and energy teas with prices ranging $6-$10. She noted food options, such as protein waffles, oatmeal and smoothie bowls, will join the menu by May.
