Nixa adopts 5-year strategic plan

Posted online

The city of Nixa unveiled its five-year strategic plan after gathering feedback from residents.

The plan, which includes economic investments, was adopted by Nixa City Council Nov. 23 and announced in a news release issued this morning.

"We were able to develop a solid plan based on input from our citizens and we’re excited to begin implementing it," City Administrator Jimmy Liles said in the release.

The strategic plan is broken down into six overarching goals: creating a sustainable economy; reliable infrastructure; high-performance government; community safety; fun and unique places; and fostering hometown spirit.

Business initiatives include a plan to seek a development partner to build a new industrial park and an initiative that would improve infrastructure, utility services and environmental quality, according to the report.

Nixa spokesperson Drew Douglas said the city has not calculated the estimated cost of the plan "since it depends on so many variables."

Douglas said the city would need to identify new funding sources, and see stability in current revenue, to complete some of the projects in the plan.

"We believe it to be achievable and feasible," he said via email.
