Commerce Bank promoted Lacy Martin to executive vice president and commercial division manager of the company’s southwest region and Adam Reichert to senior vice president and team leader of business banking in Springfield. Martin has a bachelor’s in business administration and management from Drury University and a Master of Business Administration from Webster University. With an MBA from Iowa State University, Reichert has a bachelor’s in business and communication from Drury.

Education
Ethan Hurtgen, a 2024 graduate of Strafford High School, was selected to receive the John Allen Memorial Scholarship, which is administered by Community Foundation of the Ozarks Inc. Hurtgen is attending Southwest Baptist University this fall to pursue a degree in mathematics. Established by Dwight Amstutz and Carla Allen, the John Allen Memorial Scholarship Fund was created to support a graduating senior from Strafford High School.

Health Care
Citizens Memorial Hospital received a four-star rating from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. The rating is calculated based on quality measures in mortality, timely and effective care, safety of care, readmission and patient experience. Only 40% of 2,847 rated hospitals have a ranking of four stars or higher.

Lisa Hogan joined Citizens Memorial Hospital’s quality department as patient safety and regulatory compliance coordinator. With more than 30 years of health care experience, Hogan leads patient safety initiatives and focuses on regulatory compliance requirements in her new role.

Citizens Memorial Hospital added geriatric medicine specialist Dr. Kendika Abrams to its medical staff. Abrams, who earned her medical degree from the University of Guyana School of Medicine, completed her residency in internal medicine at the Canton Medical Education Foundation/NEOMED in Canton, Ohio, and her fellowship in geriatric medicine through the Harvard Medical School Multicampus Geriatric Fellowship in Boston, Massachusetts.

Information Technology
Adam Chmielik was promoted to business analyst III from business analyst II at Next Level Solutions, which provides IT services for property and casualty insurance companies. Chmielik additionally works as a CrossFit trainer at Table Rock CrossFit.

Law
Spencer Fane LLP’s Springfield office hired Robert L. Temple as an associate in its tax, trusts and estates practice group. Temple earned his Juris Doctor at the University of Missouri School of Law, where he was the editor-in-chief of the Journal of Dispute Resolution. He earned his Master of Laws in taxation with an emphasis in estate planning and wealth transfer at the Northwestern Pritzker School of Law.

Richard “Rick” Van Pelt of Van Pelt & Van Pelt PC was named Lawyer of the Year for Family Law in the 2025 edition of Best Lawyers in America. Van Pelt has been among the Best Lawyers in America for Family Law each year since 2001. He has his Juris Doctor from the University of Missouri School of Law.

Manufacturing
Microelectronic materials manufacturer Brewer Science Inc. was recertified as a Certified B Corporation. The certification is earned by completing an assessment conducted by B Lab that examines companies’ commitment to sustainable business practices and ethical operations.

Sports
The Springfield Sports Commission, which works to shore up sports tourism in the area, appointed Alexandra Finnan as coordinator of sports strategies and events. Finnan has a bachelor’s in marketing and master’s degrees in sports business and sport and entertainment management from University of South Florida.
