Old Missouri Bank hired Michael Frerking as senior vice president and director of residential lending and added four to his team: Tamra Dean and Nigel Templeton as mortgage loan originators; Kaylynn Todd as lead residential underwriter; and Jared Howery as mortgage loan processor. Frerking has nearly 30 years of mortgage experience, most recently directing Guaranty Bank’s residential lending. He holds a bachelor’s in psychology from Missouri State University. Dean has 21 years of industry experience, the past years in mortgage lending at Guaranty Bank, and holds a bachelor’s in marketing and business from MSU. Templeton has worked nearly 25 years in mortgage lending, most recently at Guaranty Bank. Todd has spent nearly a decade in banking and mortgage underwriting for Guaranty Bank and holds a Direct Endorsement certification through the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Howery has five years of industry experience, previously at Guaranty Bank and GreenState Credit Union.

Education
Evangel University named Jon Spence as chief academic officer, following an interim stint. He succeeds the retiring Mike McCorcle, and previously worked as director of the school’s Center for Student Success. Spence, a member of Evangel’s faculty since 1998, holds a doctorate in educational leadership from University of Missouri, a master’s in education administration from MSU and a bachelor’s in social science from Evangel.

Evangel honored professors Michael Buesking and Andrea Hughes with service excellence awards. Buesking, in the humanities department, received the Clark Award, and Hughes, in the education department, was recognized with the Mills Young Faculty Award. Buesking joined Evangel’s faculty in 1991 and has helped establish its art program. He holds a master’s in painting and drawing from MU, a master’s in teaching art from Southern Illinois University and a bachelor’s in art from SIU. Hughes began teaching at Evangel in 2017 after over a decade working in elementary schools throughout Missouri and serving as an adjunct faculty member for the University of Missouri-St. Louis. She holds a doctorate in teaching and learning processes from the UMSL, a master’s in literacy from MU and a bachelor’s in elementary education from Webster University.

Health Care
Citizens Memorial Hospital was recognized by the Missouri Emergency Medical Services for Children program as being pediatric ready. The designation considers prehospital services and signifies that CMH ambulances carry the essential pediatric equipment and an emergency care coordinator prioritizes pediatric transport needs.

Law
Criminal defense firm MRD Lawyers hired Brynna Howell as an associate. The former Stone County assistant prosecuting attorney for the past decade earned her Juris Doctor from University of Missouri. Howell specializes in drug offenses and has experience in DUI and veterans’ cases.

Manufacturing
Digital Monitoring Products Inc. earned recertification for its ISO 9001:2015 quality management system after an external audit was completed. The system aims to streamline processes, lower production waste, reduce customer turnover and increase repeat orders.

Nonprofit
Matt Morris, the vice president for administrative services at MSU was selected among 35 professionals for the Missouri Chamber of Commerce’s Leadership Missouri program. The groups meets seven times in the year for multiday sessions to explore the unique aspects of the state’s economy, infrastructure and political systems in communities throughout the state.

Real Estate
Viviana Writer, a principal with Prosperiti Brokers LLC, was named second vice president for the U.S. Minority Contractors Association’s National Board of Real Estate Investment & Economic Development. She also holds the position of chair for the Missouri REIED Chapter.
