BKD LLP named retired partner James E. Brown, of Springfield, as its 2021 Distinguished Ambassador during the firm’s annual leadership conference in St. Louis. He retired in 2011 and is recognized for remaining highly engaged in the profession, especially with the Governmental Accounting Standards Board for which his final term ends in June 2022. Brown also taught continuing education courses for the American Institute of CPAs.

Springfield Sign hired Crystal Graham as chief financial officer, after working in financial systems and accounting for Andy B’s Entertainment Centers and Bancsource. She holds a bachelor’s in accounting from Missouri State University, as well as designations as a certified internal auditor and certified management accountant.

Drury University hired Jasmine Bailey as communications and media relations director, succeeding Mike Brothers. She previously worked as the public affairs officer for the Springfield Police Department. Prior to her role at SPD, Bailey worked as a journalist at KSNF-TV in Joplin and at She holds a bachelor’s in journalism from the University of Missouri.

Evangel University honored five individuals with its 2021 Distinguished Alumni Awards: Kay Logsdon, a 1977 graduate, the EU Distinguished Alum; Rebecca Mann, ’03, the EU Outstanding Young Alum; Mike Burnette, ’08, the Assemblies of God Theological Seminary Alum of the Year; Craig S. Keener, a 1982 Central Bible College graduate and ’85 and ’87 AGTS, the CBC Distinguished Alum; and Jerrica Matrone, ’12, the CBC Outstanding Young Alum. Logsdon has worked in content development for more than 30 years, currently analyzing and coordinating the use of persona data for Whysdom clients. She previously served as the public information director for the city of Springfield, and has received the Governor’s Pathfinder Award for her work in tourism. Mann is the global head of enterprise partnerships-commercial development for Western Union and was recognized in Fortune Magazine’s 40 Under 40 in 2020. Burnette is the lead pastor of LifePoint Church in Clarksville, Tennessee, which was recognized by Outreach Magazine as the fastest-growing church in 2018. Keener is a professor of biblical studies at Asbury Theological Seminary and has published more than 30 books with 1 million copies in circulation. Matrone has served as a worship leader, songwriter and vocalist at Red Rocks Church in Denver for nearly 10 years.

The Law Office of Adam Woody LLC was named to U.S. News and World Report’s Best Law Firms for the third straight year, and attorney Adam Woody was named to the Kansas and Missouri Super Lawyers list in the field of criminal defense for 2021, the second year in a row.

The Association of Fundraising Professionals-Ozarks Region Chapter honored eight businesses, nonprofits, and nonprofit professionals and volunteers on National Philanthropy Day. The awards went to Hy-Vee, Philanthropic Business of the Year; Edwin C. “Cookie” Rice Jr., Philanthropist of the Year; Julie Good of Court Appointed Special Advocates of Southwest Missouri, Fundraising Professional of the Year; Joplin Regional Community Foundation, Philanthropic Foundation of the Year; Campaignium, Philanthropic Media Organization of the Year; Lost & Found Grief Center’s Week of Hope, Fundraising Event of the Year; Marcia Johnson, Volunteer Fundraiser of the Year; and Troop 70207 of the Girl Scout of the Missouri Heartland, Youth Philanthropist of the Year.

Kampgrounds of America honored the Branson KOA Holiday Campground with the 2022 Founder’s Award and President’s Award at KOA’s annual convention in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The Founder’s Award is given in honor of Dave Drum, who founded KOA in 1962, for exceptional service based on customer scores and a quality review. The President’s Award recognizes quality standards and high customer service ratings from camping guests.
