Harrison, Arkansas-based Phillips Media Group LLC appointed a new publisher for five southwest Missouri newspapers.
Deanna Moore is now in charge of the daily newspaper operations for the Bolivar Herald-Free Press, Buffalo Reflex, Cedar County Republican, Christian County Headliner and Marshfield Mail, according to a news release.
“Deanna has been an asset to our sales department and operations in southwest Missouri for a long time," said Jim Holland, president of Phillips Media, in the release. “She has proven herself as someone who has a great understanding of customer needs and what it takes to make a successful newspaper."
Moore succeeds J.T. Strasner, who accepted a publisher position at a Texas newspaper.
Moore has directed advertising at the Herald-Free Press for the past two decades and will continue to do so for the time being, according to the release. She also has past experience at the Springfield News-Leader.
“I look forward to working with the local staff at each paper to continue the great local coverage you are accustomed to," Moore said in the release.
Phillips Media Group picked up the community newspapers as part of its 2015 acquisition of Bentonville, Arkansas-based Community Publishers Inc., according to past reporting.
Phillips Media operates a dozen newspapers in Missouri, Arkansas and Illinois, according to its website.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
