A new director is at the helm of the Missouri Department of Transportation.
The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission, which governors MoDOT, selected Ed Hassinger to serve as director, effective immediately, according to a news release issued this morning. Hassinger has worked at MoDOT for around four decades, with roles including chief engineer and deputy director.
Hassinger succeeds Patrick McKenna, who exited in September for a job with the Eno Center for Transportation, a Washington, D.C.-based transportation research nonprofit.
"We are delighted that Ed Hassinger has agreed to be MoDOT’s director during this critical time for project execution and the development of our next chapter of MoDOT leadership," MHTC Chair W. Dustin Boatwright said in the release. "We are grateful to Ed that he will serve in this role for us to bookend his 40-plus-year career with MoDOT."
As director, Hassinger will work with MHTC to form a new advisory council to deliver transportation improvements. Current projects underway include expansions to interstates 44 and 70.
"It’s my great honor to serve as director and work with the commission and Missouri’s key transportation stakeholders to ensure we stay on track and on schedule with the historic investment Missouri has made in our infrastructure," Hassinger said in the release.
