Missouri State University's Giving Day fundraiser brought in $1.6 million in 36 hours.
The March 1-2 fundraising event had 2,179 unique donations, according to a news release issued this morning.
"The Missouri State University system came together with participation from students, faculty, staff, alumni, friends, businesses and community members," said Greg Fansler, the university's executive director of engagement and alumni relations, in the release. “The collective support resulted in a Giving Day success that will have an immediate and lasting impact on our university community.”
Angela Rowe, MSU strategic communications and content specialist, said the first-annual Giving Day in 2021 raised $733,801 from 2,027 supporters.
The fundraising included a $1 million anonymous donation to support the McQueary College of Health and Human Services, according to the release.
People from 10 countries and 45 states participated in the fundraiser.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
