Missouri State University announced the hiring of a new department head.
Kara Wolfe is slated to become head of the hospitality leadership department on July 1, according to a news release. She succeeds Stephanie Hein, who earlier this year threw her hat in the ring for a state House of Representatives seat.
The hospitality leadership department is part of MSU's College of Natural and Applied Sciences.
Wolfe, who has been an Arkansas State University employee since 2000, previously worked for a nearly combined 20 years at Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, and North Dakota State University in Fargo, according to her LinkedIn profile. At Arkansas State, she’s worked as an academic adviser, hospitality instructor and educational consultant.
"Kara comes to Missouri State University with great experiences at two different institutions," said Tamera Jahnke, dean of MSU’s College of Natural and Applied Sciences, in the release about Wolfe's time at Bradley and North Dakota State universities.
At Bradley, she was chair of the family and consumer sciences department, and she was an associate professor in North Dakota. At those institutions, Wolfe led successful initial Accreditation Commission for Programs in Hospitality Administration accreditation applications.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
