Missouri Job Center plans multi-industry hiring event

Posted online

More than 20 employers in the customer service, government, health care, manufacturing and retail industries will be on hand at a Tuesday hiring event hosted by the Missouri Job Center.

The multi-industry event, set for 9 a.m.-noon at the center’s 2900 E. Sunshine St. office, is expected to have “hundreds” of positions available for job hunters, said Job Center spokesperson Katherine Trombetta. However, she didn’t have a specific number of the total jobs each of the employers will be seeking to hire tomorrow.

“As employers continue their recruitment efforts, we wanted to connect them with job seekers, especially those who may have recently experienced a lay off,” said Sally Payne, the city of Springfield’s workforce development director, in a news release. “It’s important to continually provide opportunities for employers and job seekers to meet face-to-face.”

Trombetta said tomorrow’s event marks the first large-scale indoor hiring fair for the Job Center since before the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The last larger indoor hiring event was in January 2020,” she said. “Since then, we’ve had outdoor events in our parking lot.”
