The Missouri House of Representatives on Thursday passed an alternative plan for funding initially meant for voter-approved Medicaid expansion.
The proposal calls on the money to be used to pay for an estimated 275,000 more low-income adults to access the government health care program. Part of the funding would go toward 15 new public defenders, with some set aside for K-12 school busing.
The measure heads to the Senate for approval.
