Missouri attorney general sues Starbucks

Posted online

Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey has filed suit against Starbucks, alleging unlawful race- and sex-based hiring practices.

The lawsuit, which claims Starbucks' workforce “has become more female and less white," alleges violations of federal and state discrimination laws. Among the claims in the suit are allegations that Starbucks illegally segregates employees and provides exclusive training and employment benefits to select groups, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

Starbucks disagreed with the assertions made in the lawsuit, saying that the company's "programs and benefits are open to everyone and lawful.”
