Millions donated to CoxHealth for new Monett hospital

CoxHealth breaks ground on $42M Monett hospital

CoxHealth received two $1 million donations for its new hospital in Monett.

The gifts — from Dayton and Pearl Mackey and Chris and Ginny Fuldner — bring Cox Monett Hospital’s $7 million Momentum Campaign up to $4.6 million, according to a news release. Jack and Margaret Prim previously announced a $1 million donation at the $42 million hospital’s groundbreaking ceremony in May.

“These gifts will ensure that the community has a hospital prepared to serve for generations to come,” said Lisa Alexander, president of the CoxHealth Foundation, in the release.

The Mackeys are philanthropists in the Monett area, with funds for organizations such as Camp Barnabas established through Community Foundation of the Ozarks. Chris Fuldner is a longtime member of the Cox Monett Community Advisory Board, and his wife Ginny is a health care advocate. Jack Prim, past-president of the Cox Monett Community Advisory Board, is co-chairing the Momentum Campaign. He’s also the former CEO and current board chairman for Jack Henry & Associates (Nasdaq: JKHY).

The donors will be recognized on a permanent display when the hospital opens, according to the release. It’s scheduled for completion in 2021.

Ground work has been completed at the new hospital site, and general contractor J.E. Dunn Construction Co.’s building efforts are expected to be noticeable by early September, said Rod Schaffer, vice president of facilities management for CoxHealth, in the release.

The new 75,000-square-foot hospital — located along U.S. Highway 60 in east Monett — is slated to replace CoxHealth’s current hospital at 801 Lincoln Ave.
