Mercy Springfield Communities is planning a new primary care clinic on West Republic Road, where development has been booming in recent years.
At 2716 W. Republic Road, located at the southwest corner of Republic Road and Scenic Avenue, a handful of properties were demolished next to an existing Mercy family medicine clinic at 2754 W. Republic Road.
Mercy spokeswoman Sonya Kullmann confirmed the plans via email, saying the project is in the design phase. She did not provide additional details.
Bryan Stockton, project architect with Bates & Associates Inc., said the development would span 13,100 square feet on roughly 2 acres. Noting general contractor Larry Snyder and Co. would start construction after the city approves the building permit, Stockton said he was unsure of the project timeline.
Building permit records estimate a $2.7 million cost for the project.
It’s unclear if the new clinic would replace or add to the existing Mercy clinic on Republic Road.
Less than a mile east of the development site, Mercy in May opened a co-branded Mercy-GoHealth Urgent Care clinic at the Magers Crossing development.
Magers Crossing, which is adding a third building, is one of myriad projects underway along Republic Road. Among them are Community Financial Credit Union, which is building an 11,000-square-foot branch at 2624 W. Republic Road and transitioning to the Volt Credit Union name, as well as Veterans Health Care of the Ozarks’ Springfield clinic. An extension of Kansas Expressway past Republic Road also is planned.
Taking shape on 3.5 acres just east of State Highway H/Glenstone Avenue in the area of Valley Water Mill Park are the Fulbright Heights Apartments – three 23,000-square-foot buildings with 24 units each for a total of 72 one- and two-bedroom apartments.
Do we realize how fortunate we are here? Many areas/cities of the country even in my home state of Illinois see little to no development. While the reasons for that are multifaceted we should feel lucky to live in the Ozarks where we read of new growth every week and sometimes every day! Good to see!
