Matt McCarty, 26, emerged as the winner of this year's Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper.
McCarty took home $180,000 for his win at the Highland Springs Country Club tournament, which had a total purse of $1 million. The 26-year-old golfer shot 25 under par for the tournament that ended yesterday, according to a news release.
With the win, McCarty secured a PGA Tour card for the first time.
“It hasn't settled in yet. I proved to myself, I knew this year that I could do it, but actually doing it is something completely different,” McCarty said in the release. “It feels really good, really good. Yeah, it's a special, special day, special week, and I'll remember this for probably the rest of my life.”
Tommy Gainey shot 22 under par to place No. 2 in the tournament.
The PGA-sanctioned Price Cutter Charity Championship presented by Dr Pepper on the Korn Ferry Tour doubles as a fundraiser for children's charities in the Ozarks. The fundraising total for the tournament typically is announced later in the year.
Last year, the PCCC issued $1.03 million to 53 nonprofits, according to past reporting. Since its debut in 1990, the tournament at Highland Springs has raised more than $20 million for charity.
