Longtime downtown establishment Maria’s Mexican Restaurant is adding a second eatery in Springfield.
Tim Guillot, a partner in architecture firm Esterly, Schneider and Associates Inc., said his firm was hired to design a 3,800-square-foot building that will be home to a Maria’s restaurant at 4610 S. Campbell Ave., located across the street from The Library Center, south of the James River Freeway interchange.
Maria’s will occupy a building in the Morris Dock Development Center, where The Flower Merchant Ltd. relocated earlier this year.
Dock’s construction firm, MoDoCo Inc., is general contractor for the project, according to information provided to Springfield Business Journal by Esterly, Schneider and Associates. A third 2,500-square-foot building is planned to be built at a later date at Morris Dock Development Center, SBJ previously reported.
Officials say the restaurant project with undisclosed costs is slated for completion in October.
Maria’s co-owner Chris Guest could not be reached for comment by deadline.
Utah-based gourmet cookie chain Crumbl Cookies opened its first Springfield shop; interior design business Branson Upstaging LLC relocated; and Lauren Ashley Dance Center LLC added a second location.
