London Calling adds fish and chips food truck

London Calling Pasty Co. is in expansion mode with a new food truck slated to serve up the British staple of fish and chips.

Neil Gomme, who owns the company with sister-in-law Carrie Mitchell, said the venture called London Calling Fish & Chips is rolling out within the next week.

The food truck, purchased for undisclosed terms, will circulate in Springfield as well as an "hour's circle" around the Queen City in communities such as Carthage, Fair Grove, Lebanon, Marshfield and Monett, Gomme said. Fish and chips will be the main menu option, though he said other items are being considered.

"They'll all be British based," he said of the menu.

London Calling's existing food truck and its restaurant inside Battlefield Mall remain in operation. Gomme said the mall location, which already has fish and chips on the menu, was one of the factors that went into launching the new food truck.

"Fish and chips is our No. 1 seller at the mall," he said.

London Calling, founded in 2013, also is known for its pasties, a popular English street food comprising a baked pastry filled with meat and vegetables.
