Springfield entrepreneur John Lopez recently won a World Series of Poker tournament, earning him $145,876.
Lopez took home the grand prize on the third day of the Tulsa Main Event in Oklahoma on March 20, according to a news release.
"I mainly play cash games in the Springfield/Joplin area and usually play about (three to four) tournaments per year," he said in the release.
Lopez also was awarded a WSOP ring to commemorate the win.
Asked if he would play more tournaments following his victory, Lopez said in the release, "Yeah maybe so. It's more of a time thing than anything, but if I can find the time I definitely will."
Lopez's Old Route 66 Wellness dispensary was the first to launch in Springfield after voters approved the legalization of medical marijuana, according to past Springfield Business Journal reporting. He also co-owns 420 Marketeers, 1913 Carrollton Manufacturing LLC, Infused Industries LLC and Ozarks Protective Services LLC, among other businesses.
