The Leggett & Platt Inc. (NYSE: LEG) Board of Directors voted to add a new member.
Angela Barbee was appointed to the board effective immediately, according to a news release issued yesterday. Barbee, 56, worked until January as senior vice president of technology and global research and development for Illinois-based outdoor grill manufacturer Weber Inc. (NYSE: WEBR).
"Angela brings a wide-ranging knowledge of manufacturing, engineering and innovation, management and operations in the consumer products and automotive industries. She also has extensive international experience in leading engineering, development and innovation efforts," said Karl Glassman, executive chair of the Leggett & Platt board, in the release. "We are very pleased to have her join our board."
The board’s corporate governance guidelines state directors are paid in cash and equity compensation, and a majority of the board must be independent.
Barbee was identified for the Leggett & Platt board through a national search conducted by Diversified Search. Leggett & Platt's website lists 10 independent directors and two management directors on the board.
The board members are Barbee, Mark Blinn, Robert Brunner, Mary Campbell, Mitch Dolloff, Manuel Fernandez, Glassman, Joseph McClanathan, Judy Odom, Srikanth Padmanabhan, Jai Shah and Phoebe Wood.
