The nonprofit Legal Services of Southern Missouri is scheduled to cut the ribbon this week on its new headquarters in southeast Springfield.
A 4 p.m. ceremony on Aug. 15 is scheduled to serve as a ribbon-cutting, building dedication and open house ceremony for the new headquarters at 3130 S. Delaware Ave., according to a news release. LSSM, which previously operated at 809 N. Campbell Ave., began its move to the Delaware Avenue property in May, starting with its administrative team, according to a Facebook post from the organization.
"This space represents a significant step forward in our mission to ensure that everyone has equal access to justice," said Steve Kellogg, LSSM executive director, in the release. "We're not just opening a building; we're opening doors to a brighter future for our community."
A Greene County recorder filing shows an April 2023 warranty deed between LSSM and Warren Davis Properties for the Delaware Avenue property. A note amount is not disclosed in the filing.
The building – located west of LongHorn Steakhouse near the intersection of Glenstone Avenue and Erie Street – previously was occupied by Cennox, Google Maps shows. Greene County assessor data indicates the building is roughly 20,000 square feet.
LSSM provides legal aid for low-income individuals and families in 43 southern Missouri counties, according to the release.
