Legacy Bank & Trust Co. has purchased land near Costco with plans for an office building at the site.
Company Chief Financial Officer Brandon Taylor said via email the 14 acres would be used for a new corporate campus. The company since 2021 has been in its current headquarters, an $8 million, four-story building at 3250 E. Sunshine St.
"This campus will serve as the corporate offices for Legacy Bank & Trust and will provide a centralized location to house talent," Taylor said of the land the company bought last month for undisclosed terms. "The vision is for a top tier location that reflects the caliber of individuals we are looking to recruit and retain."
Taylor said the plans, which are in the early stages, may include a multiphase development to include Class A office space that would be available for lease. The company also is considering parceling off and selling roughly 2.5 acres at the northeast corner of the property. A construction timeline has not yet been set.
The land is south and east of Costco, butting up against Hickory Hills on the east side, according to a map provided by R.B. Murray Co. President Ross Murray. He said he represented Legacy Bank in the purchase.
The site is located in a 50-acre development area by Burks Development Corp. and Costco that's dubbed Kirkland Commons, according to past reporting. Greene County recorder data show Burks Development as the seller of the Legacy Bank property.
Taylor additionally pointed to Legacy Bank's recent purchase of Dallas-based Crain Mortgage Group LLC and the subsequent launch of Legacy Capital.
