Leadership Springfield has presented its top annual award to the CEO of Queen City Roofing & Sheet Metal.
Larry Stock was honored yesterday with the 2024 O. Franklin Kenworthy Award for Outstanding Leadership during Leadership Springfield's One Big Class Reunion event at Oasis Hotel & Convention Center, according to a news release. Stock was unable to attend the event and received the award prior to the ceremony, said Hayley Cobb, communications director for Leadership Springfield.
The Kenworthy Award recognizes individuals for their commitment to Leadership Springfield’s mission, community service involvement, citizenship, leadership qualities and ethical standards.
“We are talking about someone, in my opinion, who is the epitome of leadership. Positive, intentional leadership. Sound and wise advice. His actions are humble; they are kind and caring and true to their word. We are looking at someone who walks the talk,” said Mayor Ken McClure, 2023 Kenworthy Award Winner, in the release.
Stock, a graduate of Leadership Springfield’s Signature Class 1 and Access Class 2, served as the organization's board president 2020-21 and helped found Leadership Springfield’s Legacy Leaders League. He's worked at Queen City Roofing for more than 40 years, and three years ago, he started executive and leadership coaching and mentoring business Peak Influence.
During yesterday's event, Leadership Springfield presented a new honor, called the Visionary Volunteer Award, to Tami Smith, a real estate agent with Century 21 Integrity Group. A graduate of Leadership Springfield Access Class 11 and Signature Class 44, Smith has served as an adviser to the organization's programs and contributed to development, alumni engagement and strategic planning through committee service.
"Tami’s unwavering commitment and positive attitude, combined with a drive to connect with others and make the organization better for the future, are inspirational," said Carrie Richardson, Leadership Springfield executive director, in the release.
