KY3 anchor Lisa Rose to retire after four decades

Posted online

Lisa Rose, a KY3 Inc. anchor for four decades, is retiring from the NBC affiliate.

Rose's last day is scheduled for July 25, according to a news release from the station and its parent company, Atlanta-based Gray Media Inc. (NYSE: GTN).

"All these years in television news have been more rewarding than I ever could have imagined. It's been a constant education in so many ways, from learning the ever-changing tools and technology to delivering the news day in and day out, to crash courses on everything from new laws to medical breakthroughs, from farming to banking, and so much more,” Rose said in the release.

Joining KY3 in 1984, Rose currently anchors the TV station's noon and 6 p.m. news broadcasts, as well as two weekly segments on KY3's streaming channel and monthly “Buddy Check 3” stories about breast cancer.

Rose in 2023 was inducted into the Silver Circle by the National Academy of Arts and Sciences Mid-America, an honor that recognizes TV professionals with 25 years or more of experience. She's covered stories including national political conventions, the U.S. Supreme Court's first "right to die" case that originated in the Ozarks and searches for criminal suspects, among other topics, KY3 officials say.

“Many of our viewers have grown up with Lisa and feel like she is just as much part of their family as she is ours here at the station,” said Bridget Lovelle, KY3 news director, in the release. “People across the Ozarks know Lisa for her calm and understanding during some of the toughest times we’ve ever experienced. Behind the scenes, Lisa is just as kind and empathetic as viewers have imagined. We are honored to have worked with her. She will be greatly missed.”

KY3 officials say an immediate search has started for a new anchor.
