Omaha, Nebraska-based Kutak Rock LLP promoted two attorneys to partner at its Springfield office.

Joshua Christensen and Amanda Cochran were named partner on Jan. 1, according to a news release. They were among 27 new partners selected firmwide.

“Our new partners have continued to demonstrate their commitment to client service and the ability to be leaders in the firm, particularly during (2020's) unique challenges,” Kutak Rock Chair Jay Selanders said in the release. “These talented and accomplished lawyers bring specialized and valuable experience to their practices."

Christensen is a litigation attorney who focuses on appellate practice. An attorney with experience litigating cases, Cochran has obtained summary judgments in discrimination, harassment, retaliation and wrongful termination claims.

Christensen and Cochran are among five partners at the Springfield office, said company Senior Communications Manager Leigh Ann Kosmas. The local office has 12 attorneys and seven staff members, she said.

Kutak Rock ranked No. 8 on Springfield Business Journal's 2020 lists of the area's largest law firms, with 12 local attorneys as of May 4. The company reported 19 total employees and six partners at the time.

Kutak Rock entered Springfield in 2018 after six partners of Lathrop Gage LLP exited to open the former company's local office in the John Q. Hammons Building. The move prompted Kansas City-based Lathrop Gage to close its local office after 20 years operating in Springfield, according to past reporting.
