Heather Lewis, an anchor at CBS affiliate KOLR since 2015, is exiting her role.
In a post on her public Facebook page, Lewis said she plans to "pursue a career that allows me to be more present in my children's lives and closer to family in Jefferson City." Her last day at KOLR is tomorrow.
"After 12 years working in news, I've decided to leave the industry," she said in the May 24 post. "Springfield, you will always hold a special place in my heart. This is where two of my children were born, where we endured a pandemic and where I met co-workers, neighbors and many more who turned into lifelong friends."
Lewis started at the television station as an anchor for the Daybreak program. Two years later, she began anchoring weeknight newscasts. She previously was morning anchor at KFSM in Fort Smith, Arkansas, according to her profile on KOLR's website.
In 2018, Lewis was a member of Springfield Business Journal's class of 40 Under 40.
