Jordan Valley Community Health Center has been selected to receive $1 million in federal funding.
The two-year grant from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services' Health Resources and Services Administration is designed to help Jordan Valley expand hours of operation for patients, according to a news release.
"Life demands can make it difficult to see a doctor during traditional daytime hours. By offering extended hours, we're making quality care more accessible to everyone in our community," Jordan Valley CEO Dr. Matthew Stinson said in the release. "This means parents can bring their children in after school, working adults can schedule appointments before or after their shifts, and individuals facing transportation challenges have more flexibility to receive the care they need.
“These expanded hours will give people another option than the emergency room for after-hours care."
Jordan Valley officials say expanded care hours will be implemented for pediatric express care at its 1720 W. Grand St. clinic and for substance use disorder, behavioral health and medication management at its 618 N. Benton Ave. clinic.
