Jordan Valley awarded $300K in federal funding

Jordan Valley Community Health Center was selected to receive $300,000 in funding from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Health Resources and Services Administration.

Michael Eaton, director of patient and community relations for the Springfield health center, said Jordan Valley would use the funds to install new exam rooms and dental chairs to expand oral health for the 440 E. Tampa St. center’s pediatrics and women’s health units.

“Oral health issues are obviously important to the overall health of any individual, but for a woman that is pregnant it is even more important,” Eaton said via email.

The local funding is among more than $85 million awarded last month to 298 health centers nationwide by the federal government, according to a news release.

No other southwest Missouri centers received funding, according to the HSRA website.
